Job Description

2020 Delivery is seeking exceptional undergraduates for internships in summer 2018.

About 2020 Delivery

2020 Delivery is the leading specialist public service consultancy in the UK, with clients across healthcare, education, central government and more. We are a growing, entrepreneurial practice, committed to improving public services and delivering lasting change for service users and taxpayers.

2020 Delivery depends on consultants who possess a shared drive to improve public services and hone their strong analytical and problem solving skills. We are a dynamic, growing company always searching for talented, like-minded individuals. Our internship programme is designed to harness strong analytical and problem solving skills and further develop interns by placing each intern on a project immediately on arrival at 2020 Delivery. We pride ourselves on integrating our interns within project teams in the same way as our junior consultants.

What we look for

We are looking for exceptional problem solvers, with excellent analytical, numerical, and people skills. We seek motivated team-players, with a genuine passion for delivering better experiences and outcomes for public service users. We accept any degree discipline, normally 2:1 or higher.

Specifically, we look for people who…

  • …have strong intellectual and problem solving skills
  • …show exceptional personal drive: We do what is right, not what is easy.
  • …can work effectively at all levels: Everyone within 2020 Delivery has a role to play as both a team member and a leader.
  • …are motivated by our clients and their opportunities.
The application process: there are three stages to the application, we would encourage you to prepare your answers before starting, so read the details below carefully and prepare your materials before proceeding.

In the first stage of the application you are asked to provide us with your contact information and a copy of your CV.

The second stage is a timed test. This multiple choice 'Problem Solving Test' asks you 20 questions typical of the type of work we do for clients, testing numerical and analytical ability through a case study. It's the best way we've found to help you understand the work we do and to help us to gauge your ability to do the job well. There are a few things to note:

  • During the test you cannot use the 'back' and 'forward' navigation in the browser window. If you do, your responses will be lost.

  • Some questions are easier than others, most of them require you to look at data in tables and charts, so work through them carefully, but keep an eye on the timer. You can find some example questions on our website at http://www.2020delivery.com/how-to-apply/

  • Answers are required to all questions. They are multiple choice, so if you don't know the answer, make your best guess.

  • Unfortunately if you lose internet connection during the test, you'll need to start again.

  • You may wish to have a pen & paper and a calculator handy.

  • You have one hour to complete this test. When the timer runs out your entries will no longer be scored, so you should input your best guess in order to be allowed to continue to the next stage.

For the third (and final) stage in the application we'd like you to tell us why you would be a great member of our team, so we'll ask you to respond to five questions which are shown below. Each answer is limited to 250 words. You will need to complete the whole application in one sitting, so we suggest you take some time to prepare your responses before beginning your application.

  1. Why do you want to work as a management consultant for 2020 Delivery?

  2. What do you believe are the most important attributes of a 2020 Delivery consultant and how have you demonstrated these?

  3. Give an example of a significant challenge that you have faced. Describe how you approached it, and name something concrete that you now do differently as a result.

  4. How do you motivate those around you? Describe an example of how you have positively influenced someone.

  5. What, in your view, are the biggest challenges and opportunities facing public services?

Finally, we appreciate the time that goes into your application. If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, do drop us an email to check in: recruitment@2020delivery.com.
