Job Description

The Behavioural Insights Team is recruiting a Finance Officer to work in our Operations Team. The role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience of all aspects of company finances, in a growing and dynamic organisation. Alongside a team of experienced finance and operational professionals, you will initially be responsible primarily for accounts receivable (invoicing and credit control) and also provide support on accounts payable (paying suppliers and employee expenses). In the longer term there will be opportunity to grow the role further as the team implement a new finance system over the next 12 months (Microsoft NAV).

You will have considerable opportunities for learning and progressing in your career – we offer both support for progressing with accounting qualifications, as well as significant “on the job” training – and provide a supportive and stimulating work environment. You will also be encouraged to attend the lunchtime talks from a range of external speakers, and an internal training programme to learn more about the nature of BIT’s work).

About the Behavioural Insights Team

The then Prime Minister created BIT in 2010 to apply behavioural science to public policy in the UK. In February 2014 we became a social purpose company, owned by the Cabinet Office, Nesta (an innovation charity) and our employees.

The Behavioural Insights Team works with governments and organisations around the world in almost every area of policy. Whilst the subject and output of our projects varies considerably, there are common threads: we try to understand the contexts in which people make decisions; we notice small details; we find out what has and hasn’t worked before; we come up with innovative ideas for solving policy problems and we measure everything we do as robustly as we can.

The Operations Team supports the business to deliver objectives both in the UK and overseas covering finance, HR, legal, commercial and facilities. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues and partners in all of our offices.
