Job Description

We’re looking to hire a Head of Growth to join Applied’s executive team. You'll be responsible for our sales and marketing functions and you'll take a leading voice in the business’s strategic direction. This exciting role will provide you with a rare chance to be a founding member of a fast-growing, high energy start up right at the point of acceleration.

Full of opportunity, challenge, and purpose, this is a role we’re certain you won’t find elsewhere. Come and do your best work with us.

A bit about Applied

Applied is a hiring platform that uses the best behavioural and data science to make hiring smart, fair, and easy. We’re motivated to help organisations radically rethink how they select talent, so the best person gets the job every time, irrespective of their background. We’re the first spin out of the UK’s Behavioural Insights Team, and we’re passionate about using research to make exceptional products that scale, commercially and socially.

In just over a year, we’ve grown the business exponentially. Applied is now being used by teams in 5 continents and tens of thousands of candidates have come through the platform for hundreds of jobs, from CIOs and lawyers, to refugee and disaster response workers. We work with exceptional partners ranging from large enterprises like Penguin Random House, to government departments in the UK, Australia and Singapore, to entrepreneurial start ups like Made by Many. Our research and success stories have landed us write ups in the likes of HBR, New Scientist, and the FT; we’ve spoken at conferences at Stanford, Harvard, and Wharton; and we’ve got a stellar group of advisors in our orbit. A bit about the opportunity

With investment under our belt and traction at an all-time high, we’re looking for the right person to join our executive team to take us to the next level. Supported by a fantastic team, you’ll have responsibility for driving the sales and marketing functions across the company, from our online positioning to pipeline optimisation and business development. You’ll represent the business for key clients and shape our commercial strategy for integrations and large client contracts. Finally, the successful candidate will also join the executive team, providing vital input on overall business strategy, the scaling of the team, and investor relations. It’s a role which will give you tonnes of autonomy, and space to make your mark. Alongside all other Applied team members you will benefit from.

  • equity in the business

  • open and fair pay (yep we put all payslips in the shared drive)

  • a role in all aspects of the business, including being involved in making Applied a special place to work

A bit about you

We earnestly believe that diverse teams both perform better and make for a richer experience at work. So we’re open to candidates wherever they’ve derived their skill and passion for this role.

We’re looking for someone who’s impatient to deliver and keen to get stuck in – full of ideas, energy, and an ability to inspire and support the growth of a team around them. We think you’ll love this job if you thrive on learning, are data-driven (but comfortable making decisions in conditions of uncertainty), and have empathy and grit. By no means requirements, but it could be beneficial if you also know your way around:

  • selling enterprise SaaS products

  • growing a team in a fast-moving environment

  • bridging sales/marketing and product discussions, and

  • HR and/or analytics functions

We've designed this application to unearth our fit with you by asking you about some actual challenges we’re thinking about.
